Nu babahi a demak-阿美族語Amis language babahi:女性female demak:事情matter
Nu Babahi A Demak Workshop was founded with the initial intention of "knowledge × aesthetics × collaborative learning". It makes good use of the original fallow farmland to grow ramie, uses the locally restored ramie fiber to make thread, then dyes the thread with plants, and finally weaves the fiber (thread) it grows to make beautiful fabric with the warmth of handmade craftsmanship. It also extends to practicing the housework and construction work that indigenous women used to do in the early days, such as farming and making koji to brew wine.
Since its founding in 2021 by Ahi and O'ol, the Women's Workshop started from scratch with only three partners. After several years of talent cultivation, skills learning and training, there are now more than ten indigenous partners involved. Most of the partners are descendants of the Cikasuan. In addition to working together for the weaving skills and culture, they also jointly create the Women's Workshop brand.
